Babushka is the Russian term for a grandmother, or an old lady. In the west, we have come to misidentify this term with the Russian dolls that stack inside one another (they are actually called Matryoshka).
The theme of this video slot is therefore the Russian dolls, and not the lady, but the confusion around the word is so commonplace that the developers of this slot can be forgiven for the title. Babushkas also sounds a lot cuter than Matryoshka, so maybe there is something in that, too.

Babushkas looks like it is going to be a relatively cheap video slot to play. What can we really say about Babushkas? The title is out of place, but the general idea is right. Thunderkick have tried to be colourful and creative with this slot, and they have to be applauded for that.
The slot itself will be released on August 24, although from what we’ve seen of the game, it’s launch is likely to occur without too many plaudits being thrown its way.
We can see why Babushkas might be worth a look, but we can also easily understand why this slot isn’t a long-term crowd pleaser.
